Synopsis
It was not by chance that we have chosen Gem Stones as our theme for Caribana 2009 - another of our challenging and gratifying ventures. After considerable discussion, and hours of research, we have found that there are over 40 popular Gem varieties and many more rare Gemstones, found in various parts of the world, many of which are remotely known.
We may ask ourselves, what is a Gemstone? In simple terms, we have discovered through research that it is a hardened form of mineral which is desired by many for its beauty, rarity and durability, which could last and be enjoyed for generations. Although some Gemstone varieties have been treasured from ages ago, and others only recently discovered, they are all natureís precious gift to us, to cherish and love, especially by those fortunate ladies in waiting.
